Fetching Costumes for Your Fabulous Dog, 2009) Filian, who uses four or so legit crafts (and stretches the definition of other do-it-yourself materials) to turn bare bottoms into bling. Few skills are needed; she advocates the purchase and use of such ordinary stuff as dye, ribbons, fabric paint, and iron-ons to decorate snapsuits for infants, from newborns to three-year-old toddlers. Each of her 10 how-to chapters starts with two to three pages of simple instructions: materials needed, what to do (and not), common questions and answers. Answers are also practical; for example, a thorough prewash of baby suits before crafting is advised. And she counsels mom-crafters to avoid the rhinestone-setting gun (too rough on baby's skin) in favor of plain old glue. The more than 100 designs are streamlined and bold, with easy-to-follow directions; choose among a Haight-Ashbury tie-died style, Jackson Pollock look-alike, or a ready-for-the-Fourth firecracker suit.
