Sisters Maw and Bell have collaborated on a set of patterns of unusually
complementary designs, all variations of what one might need when
camping. The majority of the patterns are for children, from a
child-sized fishing vest with lots of pockets to the Good Night Sleeping
Bag with a stuff sack. Several quilts are stunning and complex: the
Blowin' in the Wind quilt features an array of pinwheel blocks in three
sizes, and the bear-and-tree-filled Woodland Trail Quilt evokes an
Alaskan log cabin. In fact, all of the patterns are quite complex and
require a good knowledge of sewing before being attempted, although
decent, if hardly comprehensive, directions and pattern templates
certainly help. While the patterns (which are, unfortunately, often
designated "for campy kids") are reminiscent of actual camping gear,
sleeping bags and clothes aren't lined or waterproof. "Backyard" is the
right setting for these items. Pattern templates and full color photos
